Scam Alert
We begin this issue with an urgent warning from the IRS to everyone who uses the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS) to make electronic payments. If you receive an email that appears to be from the IRS claiming that your payment was rejected, it is fraudulent. The IRS never initiates taxpayer communication via email.

 

Do not respond to the fraudulent email. The IRS requests that you forward it to them for investigation. They provide more information here: http://www.irs.gov/privacy/article/0,,id=226755,00.html

Last Chance to Recover Past Taxes Paid
Extended tax filing deadlines are approaching - September 15 for calendar-year corporations, S-corporations, and partnerships; October 15 for individuals. With those deadlines are your final opportunities to carry net operating losses back up to five years and obtain refunds of taxes paid in those years.  Read more… 

Banks Ease Small Business Lending Standards 

Banks have begun to loosen their credit standards for the first time since 2006, according to the latest quarterly survey by the Federal Reserve. The quarterly survey of senior loan officers indicated a slight easing of credit standards and most terms on commercial and industrial loans to firms of all sizes. This is the first survey since late 2006 to show an easing of standards on loans to small firms. Read more…
